GTI Energy Ltd has passed a foundational milestone for the Lo Herma in-situ recovery (ISR) Uranium Project in Wyoming, US, having completed scoping study fieldwork, metallurgical studies, and hydrogeological testing.
The company determined there was sufficient submergence of Lo Herma mineralisation within the local groundwater to support ISR mining via data from four monitor ground wells.
Laboratory testing of Lo Herma mineralisation has also demonstrated hydraulic conductivity in the upper range typical of sandstones in the region, confirming the mineralisation and surrounding material has enough permeability for ISR mining methods.
On track to complete scoping study
“This is a key milestone for the Lo Herma project’s development and keeps GTI on track to complete a Scoping Study during Q2 of 2025,” GTI Energy executive director Bruce Lane said.
“The data collected continues to reaffirm that resources at Lo Herma will be recoverable by in-situ recovery mining, with geologic and hydrogeologic characteristics similar to operating ISR uranium mines in Wyoming’s Southern Powder River Basin.
“GTI is aggressively pursuing completion of a scoping study economic analysis of the project.”
Lo Herma holds a mineral resource estimate of 7.53 million tonnes at between 630 parts per million (ppm) and 570 ppm for 10.23 million pounds of contained uranium, and an exploration target of between 12.14 million tonnes and 15.21 million tonnes at 420 ppm to 700 ppm uranium.
GTR intends to produce a scoping study detailing the economic case for ISR uranium production at Lo Herma within the second quarter of 2025.
