Volt Carbon Technologies Inc. (OTCQB:TORVF)(TSXV:VCT) advisor Bill Pfaffenberger talked with Proactive's Angela Harmantas at the PDAC conference in Toronto about the company’s innovative approach to graphite processing. The company has developed a dry graphite recovery method that eliminates the need for water, addressing permitting challenges and significantly reducing costs.
Pfaffenberger explained that conventional water-based flotation processing requires a high capital investment, with production costs averaging $500 to $550 per tonne. In contrast, Volt Carbon’s technology enables graphite production at just $120 to $150 per tonne. The company has also applied for carbon credits in Europe, which could provide additional financial benefits.
Volt Carbon has entered a 50/50 agreement with Green Battery Minerals for a graphite deposit in Quebec. The deposit contains an estimated 500,000 tonnes of finished graphite, with high in-ground grades of 15-17%. The company aims to build on-site processing units, a step requiring around $15 million. Rather than raising funds through equity, it seeks a partner to finance this expansion.
An offtake agreement is close to being finalized at a price of $2,400 per tonne. Investors can expect further updates as Volt Carbon advances its commercialization strategy.
