Starbucks Corp has poached Nordstrom chief financial officer Cathy Smith as the coffee shop chain continues to embark on turnaround efforts.
Smith replaces longtime veteran Rachel Ruggeri, who had been at Starbucks for over 20 years and became chief financial officer in 2021.
It marks the latest in a string of changes under new chief executive Brian Niccol in a bid to revive flagging coffee sales.
Departures under Niccol have stretched to Starbucks’ North American chief executive, president, its chief supply officer and chair as previous colleagues have been brought in.
Some 1,100 job cuts were also announced last month, alongside plans to simplify menu offerings.
Alongside Nordstrom, industry veteran Smith has also served at Bright Health Group, Target, Express Scripts, Walmart, GameStop, Centex, Kennametal, Textron and Raytheon.
Shares were down 0.7% at $114.64 on Tuesday.
