Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency by market value, rose 6.06% to US$89,359 at 1620 GMT on Sunday.
Ether, the second-largest cryptocurrency, gained 1.36% to trade at US$2,253 at 1622 GMT.
The price movement followed a statement from US President Donald Trump on Sunday, in which he said his recent executive order on digital assets directed his team to establish a 'Crypto Strategic Reserve' including XRP, SOL and ADA.
