Lindian Resources Ltd will part ways with CEO Alwyn Vorster as it transitions into project delivery at its flagship Kangankunde Rare Earths Project in Malawi.
Vorster will step down from his role on February 28, 2025 following a mutual agreement with the Board to conclude his fixed-term contract early. He has led the company since June 2024 and was responsible for advancing the Kangankunde feasibility study and structuring the project for funding and construction. The Board has expressed its appreciation for his contributions and extended best wishes for his future endeavours.
Comprehensive search for next CEO
Lindian has undertaken a comprehensive search for an experienced executive team to lead the next phase of the project. Over the past three weeks, the company has engaged with senior industry leaders to secure the expertise required for project delivery.
An announcement regarding key leadership appointments is expected shortly.
This transition represents a critical step for Lindian and its shareholders as it moves towards financing and construction, reinforcing its commitment to delivering long-term value.
Lindian Resources appoints corporate finance advisor amid strong funding interest
In mid February, Lindian engaged corporate finance advisor Henk Ludik to report directly to the board, following a surge in funding enquiries and interest in the development of the Kangankunde Project.
With a non-binding agreement in place for US$50 million in stage one funding from the Gerald Group, the company will work with Ludik to advance a binding term sheet while also identifying, reviewing, and recommending additional funding solutions beneficial to Lindian.
The company attributes the high level of interest to Kangankunde’s recognition as one of the world’s largest undeveloped rare earth projects with near-term production potential, a commodity critical to the ongoing energy transition.
