Youtuber MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, is seeking to raise several hundred million dollars in a funding round that would value his business at approximately $5 billion, according to a Bloomberg report.
According to people familiar with the matter, MrBeast has engaged with several financial firms and wealthy individuals about investing, though discussions are still in their early stages.
It remains unclear who will invest or if they will do so at the target valuation.
The funding round aims to support a holding company that oversees MrBeast's ventures, which include the chocolate brand Feastables, snack food company Lunchly, and his video production business.
MrBeast’s business is profitable, having generated over $400 million in revenue last year, sources told Bloomberg.
He plans to expand both his packaged goods and media businesses, per the report.
MrBeast is known for his large-scale challenge videos and giveaways on YouTube and has also expanded into television with his Amazon Prime Video show Beast Games. MrBeast has disclosed he lost tens of million of dollars on the production of the show, which was Amazon’s most-watched unscripted series ever.
