The FTSE 100 started Wednesday trading on the front foot, striding 54 points or 0.6% higher to 8,722.3.
ConvaTec Group PLC led the way, up 5.8% on the back of final results.
Miners are among the big risers, with Antofagasta up 3.3%, Glencore 2.6% and Anglo American 2.1% higher, as well as all the big banks.
Leading the decliners, Aston Martin Lagonda Global shares fell more than 9% after a mixed set of final results, where a stronger second half saw it generate a rarely seen positive cash flow in the final quarter, but still report an overall loss and a larger debt pile.
Meanwhile, Hammerson PLC, owner of London's Brent Cross and Bristol's Cabot Circus shopping centres, has reported a tenfold increase in its IFRS losses of £526 million for 2024 but a stronger balance sheet.
