Africa Oil receives approval for Swedish listing of new shares following amalgamation deal

Africa Oil Corp (TSX:AOI) said on Friday that its Swedish prospectus for listing new shares on Nasdaq Stockholm had been approved.

The Canadian oil and gas company had agreed in June to merge its stake in Prime with that of BTG Pactual Oil & Gas, in a deal aimed at simplifying ownership of the deepwater Nigeria-focused producer.

Africa Oil issued 239.8 million new common shares to BTG Pactual Oil & Gas as part of the agreement.

Africa Oil, which is already listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, has exploration and development assets across West and South Africa as well as Guyana.

The Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority has registered the prospectus, allowing the new shares to begin trading.
