Genflow Biosciences PLC (LSE:GENF, OTCQB:GENFF) has moved a step closer to securing a European patent for its SIRT6 variant, a potential breakthrough in tackling age-related diseases.
The European Patent Office has completed its review with no further questions, allowing the application to move to the next stage.
The patent was originally filed in 2022 by researchers at the University of Rochester, Columbia University, and Albert Einstein College of Medicine and covers a modified version of SIRT6, a gene linked to DNA repair, metabolism, and longevity.
If granted, it would give Genflow exclusive rights in Europe to develop and commercialise treatments based on this technology.
With this latest hurdle cleared, the company is now preparing to advance the application by July as it continues to build its pipeline of longevity-focused therapies. Genflow plans to keep investors updated as the patent process moves forward.
