GameStop Corp (NYSE:GME) plans to sell its Canadian and French operations as part of its evaluation of its international assets, the video game retailer said in a statement late Tuesday.
The company did not provide any further details about the decision.
In a post on the social media platform X, GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen shared a message to potential buyers of the two businesses. “High taxes, Liberalism, Socialism, Progressivism, Wokeness and DEI included at no additional cost if you buy today!" the CEO wrote.

In 2023, GameStop stated that it would be focusing on cost cuts and long-term profitability, which would involve a smaller store network.
As of February 2024, GameStop had 203 stores in Canada and 314 stores in France.
Shares of GameStop traded down 1.6% at about $26.50 on Wednesday afternoon, having gained almost 100% in the last 12 months.
