Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company xAI has unveiled Grok 3, its latest AI model, claiming it outperforms rivals like OpenAI and China’s DeepSeek in tests covering maths, science and coding.
Speaking during a demonstration streamed on X, Musk described Grok 3 as significantly more advanced than its predecessor, with improved reasoning capabilities.
The model will be available to premium X subscribers and through a separate web and app subscription.
The company also announced “Deep Search,” a new AI-powered search tool. Musk, who has expressed concerns about AI’s risks, launched xAI in 2023 to compete in the growing generative AI market.
The AI sector has seen rising competition, with DeepSeek recently claiming its model could rival OpenAI’s o1 despite using fewer resources.
Meanwhile, xAI has doubled its Nvidia GPU cluster to train Grok 3, underscoring its ambitions to challenge industry leaders. Musk said xAI will continue refining the model, with voice assistance planned for future updates.
