Frontier IP Group PLC (AIM:FIPP), which helps turn university ideas into businesses, has announced that Topps Tiles PLC (LSE:TPT) has launched a new range of floor tiles made by its portfolio company Alusid.
The new range, called Mas, is made from up to 98.5% recycled industrial waste and uses significantly less energy and water than conventional tiles.
Alusid says the tiles cut carbon emissions by 51% and water use by 44% compared with standard tiles made in Spain, by a major producer. This makes Mas the most environmentally friendly tile range in the Topps Tiles collection.
This is Alusid’s second collaboration with Topps, following the launch of its Principle wall tiles in 2023. Mas, which comes in two sizes and four colours, is the company’s first tile designed for floors. It has already been recognised by the industry, reaching the finals in two major design awards.
The launch follows a strong year for Alusid, which recently signed its first international distribution deal with Dutch sustainable materials company FRONT Materials. The company is also considering a stock market listing, depending on market conditions.
Alusid’s tiles are used by well-known brands, including Starbucks, Amazon, Nando’s, Pret A Manger, Selfridges, Harrods and the BBC.
