TikTok is back on Apple and Google’s US app stores after disappearing on January 18, just before a nationwide ban was set to take effect.
The app had remained unavailable for new downloads but continued working for existing users.
The ban stemmed from a law signed by President Joe Biden in April, requiring TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, to sell the platform or face a U.S. shutdown. The Supreme Court upheld the law on January 17.
TikTok restored service on January 19 after former President Donald Trump pledged to extend the deadline, allowing time for a security deal.
In a statement, TikTok thanked Trump for ensuring no penalties for companies supporting its continued US operation.
