Market report: Sigma jumps after Chemist Warehouse acquisition, IAG drops 13%

The ASX is on track to close relatively flat today, sitting around 8,542 points with 40 minutes left in trading. Over the past five days, the index has gained 0.3% and is currently 0.36% below its 52-week high.

Sigma Healthcare rose 6.5% to $2.94 per share following the completion of its acquisition of CW Group (Chemist Warehouse) through a scheme of arrangement.

Liontown Resources added 4.5 cents, reaching 64 cents per share.

Insurance Australia Group (IAG) dropped $1.18, a 13% decline, to $7.74 per share. The company reported a net profit after tax of $778 million and gross written premium of $8.4 billion, a 6% increase.

At the time of filming, only three sectors were in positive territory. Materials led the gains, up 1.61%. Utilities was the weakest sector, down 2.05%.

Ora Banda Mining Ltd hit a record high of $0.98, a 5.95% increase on the previous close, after releasing strong gold results from the Riverina Underground Mine in WA. MD Luke Creagh said: "The significant results that are flowing from deeper drilling at Riverina Underground are nothing short of remarkable and point to a future step change for the business as we can now see through to a multi-year expansion in mine life.”

Pantoro Ltd was up 11.12% to $0.15, a high of more than two years, Yandal Resources Ltd increased 23.53% to a daily high of $0.21 and Tryptamine Therapeutics Ltd reached $0.042, a lift of 20%.

Other small cap gainers were Leeuwin Metals Ltd, which increased 12% to $0.14, Silver Mines Ltd was as much as 7.41% higher to $0.087, FireFly Metals Ltd hit three figures at $1.03, a rise of 6.74% and Recce Pharmaceuticals Ltd was 3.45% higher after reaching $0.45.
