Gelion shares surge 17% on breakthrough in solid-state battery technology

Gelion PLC (AIM:GELN) shares jumped 17% in early trading after the company announced a breakthrough in its Gen 3 Sulfur Cathode technology.

Independent testing confirmed that its sulfur cathodes can be paired with solid-state electrolytes, opening the door for use in next-generation solid-state batteries.

This could be a game-changer for energy storage, electric vehicles, and aerospace.

Solid-state batteries offer higher energy density, improved safety, and longer lifespan compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries. Gelion’s sulfur cathodes are also cheaper, more sustainable, and widely available.

The company plans to scale up manufacturing by partnering with established solid-state battery producers.

In the first hour of trading, the stock was up 1.75p at 13.75p.
