Falkland Oil & Gas says exploration drilling resumes at Isobel Deep

Exploration drilling has resumed at the Isobel Deep well in the North Falkland basin.

Falkland Oil & Gas (LON:FOGL) told investors that technical problems relating to the controls for the Eirik Raude drilling rig’s blow-out preventer have now been fully resolved.

It is expected that the Isobel Deep well will now take 15 days to complete.

FOGL has a 40% stake in Isobel Deep, alongside the project operator Premier Oil (LON:PMO) and Rockhopper Exploration (LON:RKH) which have 36% and 24% respectively.

Whilst the repairs were being carried out Eirik Raude drilled out the top-hole sections of upcoming wells in the programme, Chatham and Jayne East.

After Isobel Deep is finished the rig will move on to FOGL’s high impact, deep-water Humpback prospect further south. It will subsequently go back to the Chatham and Jayne East locations.

FOGL highlights that it is fully carried by Premier and FOGL in the Isobel Deep project so it has not been financially impacted by the recent delay.
