Ocean Power Technologies to showcase maritime solutions in Abu Dhabi

Ocean Power Technologies Inc (NYSE-A:OPTT) announced that it will demonstrate its WAM-V Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs) at the naval defense and maritime security event NAVDEX in Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with its UAE-based partner Remah International Group (RIG).

This follows RIG’s appointment as OPT’s regional distributor for defense and security solutions in late 2024.

At the event, OPT and RIG will conduct live demonstrations of WAM-V USVs, which feature underwater sensors and aerial drone integration, alongside showcasing the Next Generation PowerBuoy and AI-enabled Merrows technology.

OPT expects this partnership to accelerate the adoption of autonomous ocean security solutions in the region. It believes RIG’s established presence and extensive experience serving the UAE Armed Forces position it as a key player in facilitating the deployment of OPT’s technology.

Philipp Stratmann, OPT’s CEO, expressed excitement about the partnership.

“Having recently exhibited our capabilities during ADIPED for commercial customers, we are honored and energized to have RIG join us in our efforts to further penetrate Middle East markets,” Stratmann said.

“We look forward to advancing several opportunities in the UAE and the broader Middle East markets and we applaud RIG’s forward thinking in adopting autonomous, resident, persistent, and AI-capable ocean security technologies, to address the needs and requirements of the UAE Armed Forces with drone and swarming capabilities across multiple domains, including maritime missions."
