Lindian Resources Ltd has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Zekai (Zac) Komur as a non-executive director. The move will help the company advance the development of the Kangankunde Rare Earths Project in Malawi.
Kangankunde is a globally significant resource that underpins the company’s strategy to lead in the critical minerals sector. With rising global demand for critical minerals, Lindian is well-positioned to support the energy transition and strengthen supply chain security.
Komur brings more than 25 years of experience in the global resources sector and is set to strengthen the company's position.
High-level expertise
With expertise in project delivery, commissioning, mine development, mineral processing, stakeholder engagement and financing, Komur’s leadership will enhance Lindian’s ability to execute the Kangankunde Project while maintaining its project delivery schedule.
Previously, Komur held senior executive roles across mining, battery metals, LNG and green industries.
As head of commercialisation at Fortescue, he led business planning, joint venture negotiations and commercial structuring for large-scale energy projects.
At Northvolt, he successfully commissioned Europe’s first battery gigafactory for cathode active materials.
His LNG experience includes commissioning INPEX’s US$37 billion Ichthys Processing Facility, delivering first gas ahead of schedule.
He also spent more than a decade at BHP, where he optimised operations across five iron ore mines and led site-wide improvements in production capacity and efficiency.
Reinforces capability
“Zac’s appointment reinforces our strategic capability, ensuring we are well-positioned to deliver our growth strategy and maximise shareholder value,” Lindian chairman Alistair Stephens said.
“Securing key contracts, partnerships, funding and offtake agreements remains Lindian’s top priority as it progresses the Kangankunde Project, which continues to receive strong support from shareholders, industry stakeholders, and local communities.”
Komur comes into the team as Blake Steele exists as a non-executive director of the company, effective immediately.
