Stellantis expands AI deal with France’s Mistral

Stellantis NV is set to expand its artificial intelligence partnership with Paris-based startup Mistral as carmakers rush to adopt the technology.

Having collaborated for over a year on AI-driven projects, the expanded deal is set to speed up Stellantis’ industry data analysis.

“Will this technology continue to help us? Of course,” Stellantis chief engineering and technology officer Ned Curic told Reuters.

“Instead of waiting for analysis for weeks, we can do that in minutes and make a decision in the afternoon.”

Several carmakers have moved towards AI to process the likes of customer feedback, manufacturing data and speed up product development.

It follows management changes at Vauxhall, Peugeot and Fiat-owner Stellantis earlier in the month, after chief executive Carlos Tavares’ surprise departure late last year.

Stellantis shares were down 0.3% at €12.64 on Friday.
