Karelian Diamond shares up as McMorrow sees “exciting” year ahead

Karelian Diamond Resources PLC shares climbed in Friday morning’s trade, up 9.5%, after updating investor on its leases.

"The year ahead promises to be an exciting one for the company with several aspects to the company's portfolio capable of progressing rapidly,” chair Brendan McMorrow said in a statement.

In Finland, the company’s Kuhmo project has been granted a new reservation to explore to the north of its green diamond discovery, in an area deemed to have promising indicator minerals and diamond discoveries.

At Lahtojoki, meanwhile, the company said it expects to finalise landowner compensation by the second quarter – it follows a court ruling, and the company is now seeking strategic partners to advance the development of the diamond deposit.

In Northern Ireland, an independent consultant geologist has confirmed potential for Nickel, Copper, and PGE and this work will be progress for a more detailed assessment of targets. Here, the firm is also looking for partners.

Karelian shares were changing hands at 1.04p each, up 9.5%, giving the nano-cap explorer a value of just less than £1.5 million.
