BigBear.ai (NYSE:BBAI) shares surged more than 45% after the company announced it has secured a contract with the Department of Defense’s Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) to advance its Virtual Anticipation Network (VANE) prototype.
The VANE prototype will leverage advanced AI models to detect trends and assess media content from countries identified as potential foreign adversaries.
The contract includes a plan to integrate VANE into the CDAO's Advana platform, which will allow its deployment across additional Department of Defense agencies and Combatant Commands, enhancing its operational scope.
“This award underscores the importance of leveraging cutting-edge AI technologies to address complicated geopolitical challenges,” BigBear.ai president of national security Ryan Legge said.
“By advancing VANE within CDAO, we are arming our warfighters with sophisticated intelligence capabilities to leverage foreign insights critical to the safety of our nation and those protecting it.”
Shares of BigBear.ai added 45.8% at about $7 on Wednesday afternoon.
