ValiRx PLC (AIM:VAL) has signed a deal with Screenin3D to use patient-derived cancer cells in advanced lab-on-a-chip technology.
Under the agreement, Inaphaea BioLabs, ValiRx’s subsidiary, will provide cancer cells to Screenin3D, a UK company specialising in 3D tumour models.
The initial focus is on developing lab-based models for triple-negative breast cancer, a type that is difficult to treat. These models will then be offered as commercial services by both companies.
Inaphaea will receive £10,000 for each cancer cell line once the models are commercialised. Screenin3D also has the option to purchase full rights to the cell lines for future drug development.
The agreement lasts for 12 months but can be extended. Both companies have also agreed to promote each other's services. Inaphaea’s wider collection of cancer cell lines, covering 66 types, can be added to the partnership at any time.
