Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:META, ETR:FB2A, SWX:FB) has agreed to pay Donald Trump around $25 million to settle a lawsuit he filed after the company suspended his Facebook accounts in 2021, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Trump’s accounts were taken down following the January 6 attack on the US Capitol.
Sources told the paper Trump signed the agreement on Wednesday, and Meta later confirmed the deal.
The lawsuit was one of several Trump filed in 2021 against social media companies, including Twitter and YouTube, after they removed his accounts.
The settlement follows reports that Trump and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg have been working to improve their relationship.
Zuckerberg visited Trump at Mar-a-Lago after the election, and Meta donated $1 million to his inaugural fund.
Trump reportedly raised the lawsuit issue with Zuckerberg during a private dinner in November.
