Rome Resources confident as drill results confirm multiple zones and higher tin grades

Rome Resources Plc (AIM:RMR) has reported its latest batch of drill assay results from its Kalayi tin prospect in North Kivu, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where the data points to "growing scale" across multiple zones.

Notably, the explorer also sees grades improving as drilling goes deeper.

Today’s data comes from ten of seventeen holes drilled in the most recent programme, and Rome highlighted that the drilling saw continuous tin mineralisation across multiple sub-parallel ore shoots, supporting the company’s geological model.

Nevertheless, the drilling to date has covered only 30% of the identified 2,000-metre tin-in-soil anomaly at North Kivu. The mineralisation starts at surface and remains ‘open’ beyond 150 metres of depth.

Rome is advancing the project to deliver a maiden inferred mineral resource estimate, expected later this quarter, once all drill results are received.

Assay highlights

From today’s data, the highlight assays were:

  • KBDD009: 5.5 metres at 0.89% tin from 102.5 metres, including 2.4 metres at 1.39% tin from 105.6 metres.
  • KBDD010: 0.9 metres at 1.28% tin from 137.5 metres.
  • KBDD014: 2.85 metres at 0.45% tin from 24.6 metres and 3.9 metres at 0.38% tin from 32.09 metres.

Rome highlighted that drill hole KBDD016 has delivered the strongest visual tin mineralisation to date, with a 10-metre-wide cassiterite-bearing zone identified at one of the deepest drill levels.

Deeper drilling is now targeting higher-grade extensions, with results from KBDD016 expected in during the first quarter.

Unlocking a simple, high-grade resource

''These latest results from Kalayi build on the success of our last drilling campaign, reinforcing our confidence in Kalayi's growing scale, with mineralisation now confirmed across multiple zones and improving as we drill deeper towards the granite source," chief executive Paul Barrett said in the statement.

"It is becoming increasingly clear that we are unlocking a simple, open pittable, high-grade tin resource which, due to the pinch and swell geometry, indicates that there is potential for even greater widths of high-grade mineralisation both at depth and along strike."

Barrett added: "We are continuing to accelerate the drilling programme at both Kalayi and Mont Agoma concurrently, with a combined total of 3,735 metres drilled at present.

“We look forward to updating the market as we receive more assay results and build a clearer picture of these exciting resources.

“Our targeted maiden inferred mineral resource estimate in the first quarter of 2025 will be a major milestone, further defining the potential of this emerging tin asset.''
