OTC Markets Group Inc. (OTCQX:OTCM) saw a substantial rise in trading activity across its regulated financial markets in 2024, driven by international securities growth.
Total dollar volume traded reached $478 billion, an increase of $95 billion from the $383 billion reported in 2023, the group reported Tuesday.
International securities trading volume surged to $415 billion, marking a $92 billion increase year-over-year.
The final quarter of 2024 showed notable strength compared to the third quarter, highlighting growing momentum in OTC Markets Group’s platform.
Other key categories also posted significant year-over-year gains. American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) traded at $348.3 billion, up $65.9 billion from 2023, while securities with market caps exceeding $1 billion reached $386.3 billion, representing a $61.9 billion increase.
Non-penny stocks saw a notable $87.4 billion rise, with total volume at $439.9 billion.
Securities reporting to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) also experienced growth, with $78.6 billion traded in 2024, up $3.5 billion from the previous year.
“These numbers are a result of the increasingly global nature of equity trading along with the prominence and efficiency of the US capital markets,” said Matt Fuchs, executive vice president of market data at OTC Markets Group.
“Our market structure provides issuers and investors with a unique, data-driven, and cost-effective way to reach the largest pool of liquidity in the world.”
