Sunda Energy PLC (AIM:SNDA) has told investors that an environmental baseline study is now underway ahead of the planned drilling of the Chuditch-2 appraisal well, offshore Timor-Leste, Southeast Asia.
The survey is being conducted by the "Outer Limit" vessel which is on location and has today commenced studies, the company noted in a statement.
It will carry out extensive sampling of the marine environment and should be completed in around 5 days.
Analysis from the survey will be incorporated into the Environmental Impact Statement, which is currently under preparation as part of the approval process for the drilling of the well.
Chuditch-2 is slated for drilling this year following the signing of a rig contract in December, and it promises to unlock a gas field development that’s seen as a strategically important project for Timor-Leste.
