Baru Gold appoints chief operating officer for Sangihe gold project

Baru Gold Corp. (TSX-V:BARU) and its subsidiary PT Tambang Mas Sangihe have welcomed Sri Darmawan as chief operating officer for the Sangihe gold project in Indonesia.

With more than 30 years of experience in gold mining, Darmawan brings expertise in metallurgy and operations from leadership roles at prominent Indonesian mining companies such as PT JResources Nusantara and PT Newmont Minahasa Raya.

He will oversee the project’s daily operations, focusing on efficiency, safety, and sustainability, while optimizing resource management and advancing innovative solutions, Baru Gold said in a statement on Monday.

Darmawan is set to relocate to Sangihe Island to assume his responsibilities.

Terry Filbert, Baru Gold CEO, expressed excitement at Darmawan joining the company at a pivotal time as it looks to enter a period of rapid growth.

“Sri has a proven record of excellence in the mining sector and has spent decades leading gold mining operations in North Sulawesi, where Sangihe is based,” Filbert said.

“The benefit of his understanding of the geology and his professional and community connections cannot be understated. I am confident that Sri’s leadership will help us to elevate our operations and achieve our long-term strategic goals.”
