Guinness owner Diageo PLC (LSE:DGE) has dismissed reports that it might sell the iconic black stout or its stake in spirits group Moet Hennessy.
Bloomberg News reported on Friday that the company was exploring options for Guinness and champagne and cognac giant Moet Hennessy.
"We note the recent media speculation around the Guinness brand and our stake in Moet Hennessy and we can confirm that we have no intention to sell either," Diageo said in a statement, with a further update to come with interims on 4 February.
Guinness could be valued at more than US$10 billion, said the report after a bumper year where the drink has become rejuvenated by a surge in popularity in the GenZ pub goers, especially young women.
Other parts of Diageo have struggled, especially spirit sales in the us where demand for high-end expensive brands has tumbled, a trend analysts have called de-premiumisation
In contrast, Guinness sales have grown by double digits every year since 2021, with its no-alcohol alternative also booming.
