Lloyds Bank, Apple, JD Sports: What brokers said today

BP PLC (LSE:BP.) has some big strategic questions to answer, says Canadian bank RBC and it is hoping that a planned capital markets day on 26 February will clear up a lot of them.

“The event should stand as a significant line in the sand following the initial energy transition strategy presented in 2020, one that included macro assumptions that look out of tune with reality,” said the bank.

Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:META, ETR:FB2A, SWX:FB) has bagged a share price target upgrade from Wedbush analysts ahead of fourth-quarter figures and likely insight into its artificial intelligence plans.

Wedbush noted that investor focus had turned to capital expenditure guidance prior to the results on January 29, given accelerating investment in AI and related infrastructure.

After Herald Investment Trust yesterday defeated the motions proposed by Saba Capital to replace its board with an 80% voter turnout, broker Stifel said "the battle is far from over".

The voter turnout was "quite strong", analysts said, also noting that apart from Saba's own votes from its near-30% shareholding, it was joined by investors representing just 0.15% of the total votes cast.
