IQ-AI: Advancing AI for brain tumour care and clinical trials

IQ-AI Ltd (LSE:IQAI, OTCQB:IQAIF) said it is making significant strides in using artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the diagnosis and treatment of brain tumours.

Its subsidiary, Imaging Biometrics (IB), is at the forefront of developing AI-powered imaging solutions, with several updates set for 2025.

The upcoming release of the new IB Clinic software integrates advanced AI models to produce detailed tumour maps, investors were told.

These maps help doctors identify healthy and diseased brain tissue more quickly and accurately, enabling earlier and more effective treatment decisions. The models are trained on extensive datasets, including one of the largest brain tumour image repositories at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Meanwhile, IB Zero G uses similar AI technology and is being refined for FDA approval. It will enable advanced imaging functions with simple software adjustments, ensuring flexibility and scalability, IQ-AI said.

In an operational update, the company also revealed it is enhancing its mobile imaging platform, IB Nimble, to let patients track symptoms and contribute real-time data. This information will feed into AI systems to personalise treatment and improve outcomes.

Another product in development uses arterial spin labelling (ASL), a method that measures blood flow without injected dyes. ASL is increasingly requested for stroke care and complements IB’s existing tools for brain tumour imaging.

IQ-AI also said it is advancing a groundbreaking AI algorithm designed to predict where tumour cells will grow before they appear on scans. This innovation could transform surgical and radiation treatment planning. Although still in research, it has the potential to significantly improve cancer care once FDA-approved.

In addition to its imaging work, IQ-AI said it is nearing the completion of a phase I trial for gallium maltolate (GaM), a potential treatment for relapsed glioblastoma, one of the most aggressive brain tumours. The trial has shown the drug is safe and well-tolerated, with some early signs that it may slow tumour progression.

Encouraged by these results, IQ-AI told investors it is planning a phase II trial to test GaM’s effectiveness on a larger scale. The ultimate goal is to offer new hope to glioblastoma patients who currently face limited treatment options.
