Shares in Gear4music Holdings PLC (AIM:G4M), the online musical instrument retailer, rose 5% as it said strong UK sales kept it on track over the Christmas period.
Revenues overall rose by 6% to £49 million in the three months to 31 December 2024, with the UK rising by 13% and offsetting a 4% drop elsewhere.
Margins also rose with gross profits at £13.7 million up by £600,000 on a year ago.
Andrew Wass, executive chair, added he was pleased with the performance during the 2025 peak seasonal trading in what continues to be a challenging consumer environment, particularly in certain European markets.
“Christmas trading followed the pattern we had expected and planned for, with revenues in November being subdued by the late Black Friday weekend condensing peak revenues into the three weeks before Christmas.”
January trading to date continues to be in line with the board's expectations, he added.
Consensus for the year to end March 2025 is revenues of £154.7 million, underlying profit of [EBITDA] of £11.7 million and pre-tax profit of £2.8 million.
Shares rose 7p to 153p.
