Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) impressed with fourth-quarter results on Thursday, led by 51% revenue growth from its equities trading business.

Chairman and CEO Ted Pick called it an "excellent fourth quarter" that capped off "one of the strongest years in the firm’s history".

Standard Uranium Ltd (TSX-V:STND, OTCQB:STTDF) has announced the acquisition of the Umbra and Sable uranium projects in the Athabasca Basin, Saskatchewan.

The Umbra and Sable projects cover 3,680 hectares and 1,590 hectares, respectively, and were secured through cost-effective staking.

Sintana Energy Inc (TSX-V:SEI, OTCQB:SEUSF) has provided an update on the Kapana 1-X exploration well, located on Block 2813B under Petroleum Exploration License 90 (PEL 90), located in Namibia's Orange Basin.

The license is operated by Harmattan Energy Limited, an indirect subsidiary of Chevron Corporation. Trago Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Custos Energy in which Sintana holds a 49% indirect interest, owns a 10% working interest in PEL 90.

Shares in Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (ADR) (NYSE:TSM) moved 3.6% higher on Thursday morning in New York after the world's largest chip foundry posted record results.

Fourth-quarter revenue increased 38.8% to NT$868.46 billion, which was above the consensus forecast of NT$850.08 billion expected. In US dollar terms, revenue came in at $26.4 billion versus previous guidance from the company of $26.1-26.9 billion.

UnitedHealth Group Inc (NYSE:UNH, ETR:UNH) on Thursday reported the first results since the fatal shooting of Brian Thompson, the CEO of its insurance unit, in December, which shone a spotlight on the widespread ill-feeling towards the health insurance industry.

Results for the fourth quarter of 2024 beat Wall Street expectations on the profit line despite being shy of revenue forecasts.

Shares in Target Corp (NYSE:TGT) fell 3.4% to $130 on Thursday after the discount retailer raised its sales outlook but kept things unchanged for profits after what it said was a better-than-expected festive performance.

Sales during November and December increased 2.8% versus the prior year and comparable sales by 2.0%, with digital sales up 9%.
