Volta Metals reports high-grade lithium and rare metal discoveries at ZigZag

Volta Metals Ltd (CSE:VLTA) has announced new results from initial sampling at its newly acquired ZigZag property.

The company collected 21 samples from the Dempster East pegmatite, which revealed high-grade concentrations of lithium, tantalum, cesium, rubidium, and gallium.

According to Volta, the findings point to the property’s potential for mineralization and support its classification as a complex-type pegmatite system.

ZigZag is adjacent to the Falcon West Lithium Project in Ontario's Thunder Bay Mining District.

Fred Breaks, Volta’s technical advisor, highlighted the pegmatite’s advanced evolution, noting tantalum values ranging from 67 to 457 ppm, cesium concentrations up to 1,970 ppm, and rubidium levels reaching 4,920 ppm.

These metrics align with or surpass known deposits in the region, such as the North Aubry pegmatite, and suggest further exploration potential, Volta noted.

Volta’s recent assays from ZigZag reaffirm high lithium content, averaging 1.49% Li2O, alongside significant rare metal enrichment.

Future exploration will include detailed mapping, geophysical studies, and drilling to define the pegmatite’s size and mineral potential.

In a statement, Volta also emphasized the geopolitical importance of critical minerals like gallium and tantalum, which are vital for advanced technologies but largely sourced from China.

With rising demand and trade restrictions intensifying supply challenges, the ZigZag property’s resources could play a strategic role in bolstering North American mineral independence.

Volta plans to leverage the property's promising geology to identify new targets and expand its exploration footprint, aiming to capitalize on the growing market for critical metals.

Shares of Volta gained 125% on the update at C$0.05 late morning on Tuesday.
