The government has announced plans to cap resale ticket prices to prevent fans from being exploited by professional touts.
Under the proposals, resale prices could be limited to the original ticket price or a maximum uplift of 30 per cent. A consultation on the specifics will be launched soon.
Other measures include restricting resellers to listing only the number of tickets they could purchase on the primary market.
The proposals follow public outcry over inflated resale prices for concerts by artists such as Oasis and Taylor Swift, as well as issues with dynamic pricing.
Ministers have pledged to review dynamic pricing and increase fines for ticketing rule breaches, with the aim of ensuring fairer access to live events and curbing touts’ profits.
