Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ:COST, ETR:CTO) has reported strong sales growth for December attributed to holiday shopping activities.
For the five weeks ending January 5, 2025, Costco posted net sales of $27.52 billion, up 9.9% from the same period last year.
This follows year-over-year growth of 5.6% in November.
Same-store sales increased by 7.4%, reflecting growth of 9.3% in the US, 4.3% in Canada and 1% in other international markets.
eCommerce sales surged 34.4%, with an approximately 15 percentage point impact from the timing of Black Friday and Cyber Monday occurring a week later this year compared to last year.
For the first 18 weeks of its fiscal year, Costco reported net sales of $94 billion, up 8% from the previous year.
Shares of Costco were higher in after-hours trading on Tuesday, up 1.9% at about $944.
