Bet365 boss takes 45% pay cut to £158 million

Denise Coates, chief executive of Bet365 and reportedly Britain’s richest woman, saw her pay fall by 45% last year to around £158 million.

Coates’ salary dropped to £95 million compared to £221million received the previous year with her also receiving around £63 million of the £110 million dividend paid by the online gambling group.

Based in Stoke, Bet365 reported saw profits rebound to £596 million in the year to March 2024, against a loss of £72.6m the year before when it made a determined push into the North American market.

Revenue grew by 9% to £3.7 billion.

Reportedly founded in a car park more than 20 years ago, the former accountant has built 365 from a bookmaker set up by her father into one of the world’s largest online gambling companies

Denise Coates owns 58% of the business, with the Coates family also owning Stoke City football club.

365 now has 8,600 workers and is the largest employer in Stoke, while also boasting more than 90m customers.
