Shares in Cizzle Biotechnology Holdings PLC (LSE:CIZ) rose 5% in early trading after the company appointed Professor Dawn Coverley as chief scientific officer and announced progress on its CIZ1B biomarker assay.
Coverley, founder and previously a non-executive director, takes on an executive role to accelerate the company’s global licensing strategy.
Her focus will include supporting US-based laboratory partners in achieving regulatory approvals and advancing non-dilutive grant-funded research.
The company also completed a key technical programme, confirming its CIZ1B lung cancer blood test as a scalable and cost-effective ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) for CLIA accreditation.
The test has demonstrated high sensitivity and accuracy, marking significant progress towards its planned market launch in 2025.
The stock was up 0.075p at 1.62p.
