Sintana Energy Inc (TSX-V:SEI, OTCQB:SEUSF) has provided an update on the second exploration campaign at Blocks 2813A and 2814B in Namibia’s Orange Basin, governed by Petroleum Exploration License 83 (PEL 83) and operated by Galp Energia.
Sintana indirectly holds a 49% interest in Custos Energy, which owns a 10% working interest in PEL 83, alongside NAMCOR’s 10% interest.
The company noted that the PEL 83 Joint Venture partners have successfully drilled and logged the Mopane-2A well (Well #4), which spud on December 2.
Hydrocarbons were encountered in two reservoirs: a gas-condensate column in AVO-3 with thin net pay in the reservoir's sweet spot and a light oil column in AVO-4.
Both reservoirs displayed high-quality sands with favorable porosity, permeability, pressure, and fluid characteristics, and minimal CO2 with no H2S or water contacts.
The data from Mopane-2A is being analyzed to enhance understanding of the Mopane complex and support evaluations of its commercial viability.
The drillship is now relocating to the Mopane-3X exploration well location (Well #5) to target two stacked prospects, AVO-10 and AVO-13, with spudding anticipated in early January.
“The ongoing success at Mopane is emblematic of the world class scale and quality of the complex,” Sintana CEO Robert Bose said.
“We look forward to further exploration and appraisal activities anticipated over coming months to further unveil the unmatched quality of our position at the heart of Namibia’s Orange Basin.”
