GSK PLC (LSE:GSK, NYSE:GSK) has announced that its phase III FIRST-ENGOT-OV44 trial met its primary goal, or 'endpoint'.
The study showed that the addition of Jemperli (dostarlimab) to platinum-based chemotherapy and Zejula (niraparib) maintenance, with or without bevacizumab, significantly improved progression-free survival (PFS) in first-line advanced ovarian cancer.
While the key secondary endpoint of overall survival did not reach statistical significance, further analyses are underway, and data will be shared with regulators and at future scientific meetings. The safety profile was consistent with the known tolerability of the individual agents.
Ovarian cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths in women, with high recurrence rates following first-line platinum-based chemotherapy. This trial underscores GSK’s commitment to advancing treatments in gynaecological cancers.
