Costain Group wins £300mln HS2 contract

Costain Group PLC (LSE:COST) has landed another substantial contract as part of the HS2 rail project in the United Kingdom.

Via its joint venture with Siemens Mobility, Costain won a contract to deliver high-voltage power supply systems for HS2 project which will connect Birmingham to London.

The contract is valued at around £300 million and includes options for extensions.

Also, the JV will oversee maintenance over seven years, for around £32 million.

"This contract marks the start of a new partnership with Siemens Mobility and its team of experts who share our values and ambitions,” chief executive Alex Vaughan said in a statement.

“Providing a safe, reliable power system will be critical to the success of HS2, with rail electrification a crucial part of the UK's decarbonisation plans.”

This is Costain’s latest in a number of contract wins for the HS2 project.
