Two Tencent-appointed board members have stepped down from Epic Games' board following concerns raised by the US Department of Justice (DOJ).
The DOJ stated that their roles on the boards of both Epic Games and Tencent, a competitor, violated Section 8 of the Clayton Act, which prohibits interlocking directorates.
Epic Games, the creator of Fortnite and the Unreal Engine, is partially owned by Tencent, which also owns League of Legends developer Riot Games.
Tencent has agreed to amend its shareholder agreement, relinquishing the right to appoint board members or observers at Epic.
Epic confirmed the resignations and plans to nominate two independent directors to replace them, thanking the outgoing members for their contributions.
