Clinical-stage oncology company Prescient Therapeutics Ltd (ASX:PTX, OTC:PSTTF), which is developing a pipeline of targeted, personalised therapies for cancer, has tapped James McDonnell to lead the company as its CEO, effective January 20, 2025.
Global pharmaceutical expertise
McDonnell brings more than 25 years of experience in the global pharmaceutical industry, specialising in blood disorders and haematological malignancies such as myeloma and chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML).
His career includes senior leadership roles at Pharmion and CSL Vifor, where he delivered substantial commercial success and fostered high-performing teams.
As head of Global Marketing at Pharmion, McDonnell played a pivotal role in growing the oncology and haematology portfolio prior to the company’s US$2.9 billion acquisition by Celgene Corporation (NASDAQ:CELG).
Most recently, he served as global commercial lead for patient blood management at CSL Vifor, contributing to enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.
Notable revenue growth
His leadership as vice president and general manager for CSL Vifor Australia and New Zealand coincided with strong revenue growth across portfolios in nanomedicines, nephrology and rare diseases.
A registered pharmacist and member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, McDonnell holds a Graduate Diploma in Marketing from Monash University and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
