BATM Advanced Communications Ltd (LSE:BVC) has announced a major step forward in the development of its NATlab diagnostic platform, which has begun pre-clinical validation at the Lazzaro Spallanzani National Institute for Infectious Diseases in Rome.
This follows successful trials in Israel, confirming the system's effectiveness in identifying infectious diseases quickly and accurately.
NATlab is a cutting-edge tool designed to diagnose multiple pathogens from a single test within a short timeframe.
It uses a patented process to amplify and identify disease markers, achieving 97% sensitivity in detecting positive samples during initial evaluations. The platform also outperformed similar systems in accuracy and speed.
The validation in Rome is expected to pave the way for initial sales and regulatory approval under European Union standards, enabling its use in the EU market.
BATM believes the NATlab system’s ability to provide rapid, multiplex diagnostics will drive interest from potential partners and healthcare providers.
In addition, its associate company, ADOR Diagnostics, has secured a $1 million grant from the Israel Innovation Authority to develop a NATlab application for diagnosing stomach ulcers.
This grant will fund the project over two years as further milestones are achieved.
