Olympio Metals confirms 1.2-kilometre-long gold-copper target at Dasserat in Cadillac Break, Québec

Olympio Metals Ltd (ASX:OLY, OTC:COPGF) has selected a high-priority drilling target at Dasserat prospect of the Dufay Project in the Cadillac Break in Québec, Canada, after modelling historical geophysical data confirmed the strike and depth continuity of a porphyry gold-copper target within the new prospect.

Dasserat’s porphyry system stretches about 1.2 kilometres in strike, within a similar geological setting to the 1.4-million-ounce equivalent Galloway porphyry copper-gold resource nearby.

OLY is advancing drilling approvals for a program over Dasserat in January next year, intending to drill the until now untested target.

Highly prospective geology

“We are strongly encouraged by the geophysical modelling of the newly named Dasserat IP target, which has confirmed the 1.2-kilometre strike length and depth extent,” Olympio Metals managing director Sean Delaney said.

“The induced polarisation (IP) anomaly is directly analogous to the 1.4-million-ounce Galloway Gold-Copper Project less than 5 kilometres to the north.

“Both prospects occur on the margins of syenite porphyry intrusives within 3 kilometres of the famous Cadillac Break, a world-class gold and copper mineralised structure.

“Our geology team is very encouraged by some of the old drilling logs from the 1940s from close to the Dasserat Prospect and our model suggests the best target has never been drilled.

“Preparations are well underway to begin drilling this and other gold-copper targets at the Dufay Project early in the new year.”

In Cadillac Break

The 60-square-kilometre Dufay Project includes a 10-kilometre-long stretch of the Cadillac Break regional structure, offering promising targets for drill testing in the new year.

Dasserat target has never been drilled and Olympio is very excited to test this overlooked target proximal to the Cadillac Break, a terrane bounding structure associated with world-class endowments of orogenic and VMS gold and copper mineralisation.

The project is 35 kilometres west of the Rouyn Noranda mining centre and copper smelter in southwest Québec.
