GameStop shares purr to life after Roaring Kitty posts cryptic Tweet

GameStop Corp (NYSE:GME)’s ticker symbol $GME is trending on social media website X amid the latest meme rally on the video game retailer’s share price.

Shares in the company spiked nearly 6% on Friday and another 3% in Friday’s pre-market session following the latest cryptic post from meme stock trader Roaring Kitty.

Roaring Kitty, whose real name is Keith Gill, rose to fame in late 2020 for his role in leading the retail investor-led GameStop stock short squeeze.

The short squeeze artificially pumped the price of the stock in retaliation to hedge funds that were profiting off GameStock’s plummeting valuation.

Since then Gill has occasionally posted cryptic messages on social media that have managed to inflate GameStock’s share price.

In his latest social media post, Gill posted a mock-up of a TIME Magazine front cover with a computer screen showing a blank media player.

The media player is paused at 01:09/4:20.

GameStop shares were swapping for $29.5 each in pre-market Friday trades. They reached as high as $81.25 at the height of the meme stock craze.
