Lithium Universe: Key milestones for Bécancour Refinery

Lithium Universe: Key milestones for Bécancour Refinery

Lithium Universe Ltd (ASX:LU7, OTC:LUVSF) CEO Alex Hanly talks with Proactive’s Tylah Tully about the latest developments for the Bécancour Lithium Refinery in Québec, Canada, and its ambitious outlook for 2025.

Hanly highlighted the recent signing of an MoU with a Québec-based chemical logistics company, which leverages their expertise and established supply chain to support lithium carbonate production.

He stated, “This partnership connects us with a vast network of suppliers and enhances our capacity within the circular economy in Bécancour.”

The company has also released a pre-feasibility study showing a strong NPV and payback period in a conservative pricing environment, with plans to proceed with a definitive feasibility study led by Hatch Engineering.

Additionally, securing Lot 22, a 270-hectare block in an industrial park tailored for critical mineral projects, marked a major milestone.

Looking ahead to 2025, Lithium Universe plans to solidify partnerships with chemical suppliers, educational institutions and lithium carbonate off-takers.

Hanly noted, “We’re engaging with automotive and battery manufacturers to understand their appetite for lithium carbonate in North America.”

Lithium Universe is well-positioned for a pivotal year as it advances its critical mineral refinery in Québec.
