Peloton Minerals Corp (CSE:PMC, OTCQB:PMCCF) president and CEO Ted Ellwood talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's strategic shift toward lithium exploration in northern Nevada. At the Resourcing Tomorrow 2024 conference, Ellwood highlighted the proximity of Peloton's North Elko project to a significant lithium discovery by Surge Battery Metals. He explained that Peloton has expanded its holdings to a 30 square kilometre area adjacent to Surge and has recently acquired an additional 10 kilometres.
Ellwood noted that Peloton has identified lithium-bearing clay similar to Surge's on its properties and is conducting extensive fieldwork, including soil geochemistry, mapping, and geophysics, to prepare for a drilling program in the spring. Comparing its project’s potential to Surge’s 11 million tons of lithium carbonate equivalent, Ellwood emphasized the enormous in-situ value such resources could represent.
The interview also touched on the importance of domestic critical mineral production in North America, referencing substantial investments by GM and the U.S. government into similar lithium projects in the region.
