Tiziana Life Sciences Ltd (NASDAQ:TLSA) announced that it has expanded its Phase 2 clinical trial evaluating intranasal foralumab for non-active secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (SPMS) to additional trial sites across the northeast US.
The trial sites include Yale University, Johns Hopkins University, Cornell University, University of Buffalo, University of Massachusetts, and Thomas Jefferson University.
These institutions are recognized for their contributions to medical research and neurology, bolstering the trial’s scope and providing access to advanced expertise and facilities, Tiziana said in a statement on Wednesday.
The company chose to expand to sites within the Northeast to allow all trial participants to undergo PET scans at Invicro in New Haven, Connecticut to ensure consistent imaging and reduce variability.
“We are honored to collaborate with these prestigious institutions as we further expand our clinical trial,” Tiziana CEO Ivor Elrifi said in a statement.
“This milestone demonstrates our dedication to advancing innovative treatments for patients living with SPMS and underscores the potential of our platform to address complex neurodegenerative diseases.”
Non-active SPMS remains an area of high unmet need, with no US Food and Drug Administration-approved therapies currently available.
Tiziana believes its intranasal foralumab, a fully human anti-CD3 monoclonal antibody, represents an innovative approach, aiming to address inflammation and modulate the immune system without inducing systemic immune suppression.
