Hive Digital Technologies Executive Chairman Frank Holmes joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce a major expansion of the company's Bitcoin mining capacity with the acquisition of 8.6 EH/s of Bitmain S21+ Hydro miners. This strategic purchase will boost HIVE's hashrate to 15 EH/s by summer 2025, leveraging its green energy-powered operations in Paraguay.
The acquisition includes 13,480 state-of-the-art mining units, providing 4.3 EH/s of capacity, set for delivery in April and May 2025. HIVE also secured a call option to purchase an additional 13,480 units, potentially doubling the total order to 26,960 units (8.6 EH/s). By Q1 2025, HIVE will achieve a hashrate of 6.4 EH/s through internal upgrades to its existing fleet and the installation of 11,500 Canaan Avalon units, improving mining efficiency to 19.5 J/TH. Upon full deployment of the Bitmain S21+ Hydros,
HIVE's global fleet will reach a blended efficiency of 17 J/TH. This expansion positions HIVE as a leader in the Bitcoin mining industry, with projected annualized revenue exceeding $300 million and over $200 million in mining margins, based on current economics. The move underscores HIVE's commitment to sustainable and high-efficiency mining operations.
