Cerro de Pasco Resources (CSE:CDPR, OTC:GPPRF) announced the completion of its 40-hole drilling program at the Quiulacocha Tailings Project in Central Peru.
The program, which generated over 1,000 samples, has yielded promising preliminary assay results, offering insights into the project's polymetallic potential.
Assay results from 177 samples, equivalent to 15% of the drill program, revealed an average silver grade of 1.72 ounces per tonne (oz/t) (53.64 grams per tonne), a 37% improvement over earlier shallow auger samples from the project, reported in 2012.
Gallium, a mineral vital for advanced microchips, was detected at an average grade of 34.61 g/t, with a maximum concentration of 144 g/t near the center of the tailings.
The metal content showed continuity at depth and across a lateral area of 400 to 600 meters, with silver grades predominantly ranging between 1.40 and 1.80 oz/t.
“These results are highly encouraging and exceed our initial projections, particularly regarding silver continuity and grade,” said Guy Goulet, CEO of Cerro de Pasco Resources (CSE:CDPR, OTC:GPPRF).
“In addition to zinc, lead, silver, copper, and gold, the detection of elements like gallium and indium—critical for advanced 5G technologies, robotics, and nuclear medicine—presents the potential for valuable by-product metal credits in the planned concentrates.”
Goulet also confirmed plans for metallurgical testing to further evaluate recovery potential. “These findings will inform the planning of an expanded drilling campaign, set to commence in the second quarter of 2025,” he added.
Metallurgical test work will assess the feasibility of pyrite recovery as a potential by-product, evaluating its grades, impurities, and associated metals.
Representative composite samples will undergo detailed metallurgical testing to support further studies and optimize recovery strategies.
The upcoming drilling campaign will target the remaining tailings, with a focus on extending the resource potential of the project.
